Finding the Ideal Church

Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

The ideal church will:

  • Teach you what the Bible says

  • Teach you about God's love AND His Holiness

    • Help you learn how to stop sinning and be obedient to the Lord

  • Teach you about deliverance and the various spiritual gifts including healing and speaking in tongues

    • In other words, teach you how to live an everyday supernatural life

  • Encourage you to develop a strong prayer life and encourage you to pray with others

  • Make you feel free to worship God and will have a time of worship

  • Encourage and equip you to be a servant of God and others

    • This includes how to serve your church and your community such as getting involved in schools and in our politics in order to stand up for God's truth and bring this country as a whole back to Him

Too many churches:

  • Emphasize God's love without teaching about the great importance of fearing the Lord

  • Teach man made rules and traditions rather than what the Bible says

  • Do not emphasize the importance of a strong prayer life and praying with others

  • Stay out of politics

    • This is a big reason why politics have gone to hell over the past several decades. The founding fathers of our country, the greatest free country of all time, based our constitution on what the Bible says! God is the greatest ruler of all time. Why would we let people kick Him out of politics and schools? Why would church leaders be afraid to discuss what God would have to say about governing our country?

  • Focus on doing all kinds of activities BUT do not focus on the 2 most important aspects of being a Christian:

  1. How to have a stronger and stronger relationship with God

  2. How to have a strong daily prayer life

1) No church is perfect. The biggest problem the church faces today is what the church of Laodicea was facing in the book of Revelation:

(click here to see Revelation 3:14-22)

Many have found that church can be ritualistic and routine, without any real heart in it...

but that is certainly not the case in this secret underground church in China.

2) It's important to remember that just like when a sick person needs a doctor, our sick churches also need our help. We can step up and help them heal. If they will not accept our help or they are doing things that they should not and are unwilling to change, then with some prayer you may find that it is time to find another church. Trust God to send you to one that fits you better.

2 Last Things to Keep in Mind:
