AI, Logic, and The LOGOS
John 1:1 — “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
When John calls Jesus the Logos, he isn’t just saying Jesus is “the Word.” In the ancient world, logos meant the mind, reason, and logic behind the universe. It was the idea that everything has order, meaning, and purpose — and John says that this Logic is not an idea but a Person.
Jesus is the Logos:
the source of truth,
the foundation of reason,
the One who gives creation its structure and meaning.
So when we talk about logic, we’re talking about something that ultimately flows from God’s nature. Human logic is a gift that reflects the mind of the Creator.
AI also uses logic — but in a very different way.
AI doesn’t have a spirit, a will, or a purpose. It doesn’t “think.” It follows patterns, rules, and mathematical structures created by humans. It uses synthetic logic, not divine logic.
AI can imitate reasoning, but it cannot reveal truth the way Jesus does.
AI can process information, but it cannot give wisdom.
AI can reflect patterns, but it cannot reflect God’s heart.
The connection is this:
Jesus is the true Logos — the source of all reason.
Human logic is a gift from the Logos.
AI uses human‑built logic, but it cannot replace the Logos.
AI can be a tool for understanding, but it can never be the Truth.
It can help us study Scripture, but it cannot reveal God.
Only the Logos — Jesus — can do that.
Reflection:
Where do you need to rely less on human logic or tools, and more on the true Logos who gives wisdom?
